Seasonal Visiting Artist Residencies

As a haven for those in need, Chenoa Manor strives to create a safe space that encourages compassion, respect, play and creativity. We feel that art, in all of its various forms, is an important way to showcase and enhance the inherent connection between our lives and the natural environment that surrounds us.

Each season, we invite one visiting artist to draw inspiration from Chenoa and create work on site. We welcome emerging and professional artists of all backgrounds, including poetry, painting, sculpture, fibers/textiles, illustration, video, photography, dance, and more. Artists are encouraged to work en plein-air, side by side with the animal residents and natural setting of Chenoa. Artists enjoy full access to Chenoa Manor to create work throughout their allotted months, including a farm tour at the beginning of the season and access to space to store work and materials on site. As part of the program, we ask that the visiting artist create one work that will live at Chenoa permanently. A reception for friends and family will be held at the end of each season.

To apply, please submit a cover letter including why you are interested and which season you would like to visit, samples of your recent work, and a brief proposal of a project you might like to create on site. We hope that spending time at Chenoa will influence the work created, and understand that projects may change as each artist becomes acquainted with our space and residents. Applications should be submitted via email to [email protected]
