DOWN THE GARDEN PATH

The sun is shining, the fields are green, and the stinging nettle is abundant at the Manor! Our not-so-huggable friend, stinging nettle (Urtica dioica) can be found here, there, and everywhere at Chenoa Manor. Although this prickly perennial may not be so fun to touch, she provides us with a wealth of resources. Nettle can be used to make teas, pasta, and other foods, like pesto! Nettle is a great source of iron & calcium (even more so than spinach), and has long been used to treat conditions such as arthritis, allergies, and prostate disease, to name a few. We at Chenoa Manor have been harvesting our new found friend and creating our own version of nettle pesto, which will be available soon from the Manor. Stay tuned!!
